A limerick I liked:
A certain young fellow named Beebee
Wished to wed with a lady named Phoebe.
But said he, “I must see
What the clerical fee
Be before Phoebe be Phoebe Beebee.”

New and Improved!
Last year around March I set up my website and my website editor has a fancy blog section where you can use their tools for your very own blog on your very own website! It's all the latest and greatest...except it's not. It was sufficient, but I missed Blogger. Mostly because Blogger connects me to everything Google, whereas Weebly - though great for my website hosting and editing - does not. So I decided to come back to Blogger. Same account, different blog. Sorry for the 3 of you that have to update your reader again. And I even figured out how to connect it to my website. It doesn't look quite how I'd like it to, but that's ok. I think it still fits the general theme.
This mostly came about because of...(checking old blog for link...discovering I never wrote about it...hmmm....) something I meant to write about. My year of month-long resolutions. I thought a year was a bit ambitious for setting a resolution, but a month? Totally doable!
January was focused on spirituality. My goals were: 1 - at least a half an hour of gospel-related study each day, 2 - 15 minutes of meditation each day, 3 - 100% home teaching, 4 - 4 visits to the temple. I wasn't 100%, but I noticed I gave a greater effort just because I had the goals. i.e. some days I didn't get in 1/2 an hour of study, but because I had the goal, I at least made an effort to read. I did get 100% on my home teaching, and made it to the temple 4 times, so...successful month.
February is focused on my career. I was reviewing my website in preparation and decided that I wanted to transfer my blog. I'm sure as I go through the month I'll tweak and adjust, but for now I'm happy with it and will simply add some link lists and things in the near future.
My goals for February are:
1 - Start a professional group. A group to offer support, encouragement, information, tips, leads etc. I got the ball rolling on this one, sent out some invites to people. It's turned into a group of conservative entertainment professionals out here in the area. We're having our first meeting next week. I'm excited about it. (Incidentally Benjamin Franklin met with a similar group for over 40 years. Think of that!)
2 - New headshots. My agent has been bugging me to get new shots since I signed with him over a year ago. I haven't the money (and probably still don't), but it's an investment that I do need to make, so I'm taking the plunge and having some faith that new shots will mean more auditions. I've got it all set up and will be taking photos on the 16th with the same photographer who snapped headshots of Betty White, Ed Asner, and the pudgy kid from Modern Family.
3 - Free stuff. While much of the entertainment industry is designed to bleed actors of every last penny they posses, there are plenty of free activities in which to participate. I plan to investigate and participate in as many of them as I can.
4 - Monologues. Monologues aren't something you generally need in LA, but as an actor, it's never a bad idea to have a selection in your back pocket just in case. So, I'm going to find/write/whatever a couple of good monologues to have on hand.
5 - Spend at least an hour a day writing/researching/implementing. This applies to all of the above, but mostly to the educational TV show I hope to someday host. I'll keep you all updated on this as it progresses.
I'm also taking another class with Billy O'Leary who you may recognize from many things, but I remember him best as Tim Allen's brother in Home Improvement. He's brassy, brazen, and fairly foul-mouthed, but he's a great coach. So, here's to a spectacular February!
